摩西从以色列每个支派中打发一个人，一共十二人，去窥探迦南地，这些探子中，只有约书亚和迦勒两个人，以好消息汇报摩西。（参民 14:6-9）他们说：“那个地方甚好，神必定会带领我们到那里的。” 他们相信神会按照祂的应许把那地赐给以色列民的。其他十个探子却非常害怕，因为那个地方的人看来太高大威猛了。他们说：“据我们看自己如蚱蜢一样，据他们看我们也是如此。”

当我们受制于恐惧时，我们对很多事情的看法往往都被扭曲了；例如，我们对神的看法可能会发生偏差，比起我们的问题，神似乎看起来太渺小，面对我们的困难，神的话语也好像很空洞。当信心软弱时，我们对自己的看法也可能模糊不清。以色列民说他们感到自己像蚱蜢，但事实上，他们是蒙神拣选和祂所爱的子民。

我们必须牢记我们在基督里的身份；我们是基督的身体，我们是这位君王的儿女，我们是“被拣选的族类，是有君尊的祭司，是圣洁的国度，是属神的子民。” （参彼前 2:9）

当恐惧暗中偷袭你时，你要记得你侍奉的那一位神，记得你是谁，以及你属于谁，这样，藉着倚靠神的应许和能力，你便能够凭信心踏步向前了。

Moses sent twelve men of Israel, one from each tribe, to explore the land of Canaan. Only two of the explorers, Joshua and Caleb, came back with a good report (see Numbers 14:6-9). They said, "The land is good, and God will lead us into it." They trusted God to give Israel the land he had promised. The other ten explorers were gripped with fear because the people of the land seemed too big. They said, "We seemed like grasshoppers to ourselves and to them."

When fear takes over, our perspectives on many things can get distorted. For example, our view of God may become skewed. God may seem small in light of our problems, or God's Word may seem empty in the face of our difficulties. Even our view of ourselves may get cloudy when our faith is weak. Israel said they felt like grasshoppers when in fact they were the chosen and cherished people of God.

It's important to remember who we are in Christ. We are the body of Christ. We are sons and daughters of the King. We are called "a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession" (1 Peter 2:9).

When fear creeps in, remember the God you serve. Remember who you are and whose you are. Then step forward in faith, leaning on God's promises and power.
