我的办公室里有一幅描绘耶稣小时在约瑟的木匠工场的图画。约瑟正站在工作台旁，耶稣则在地上玩弄一颗钉子。通过窗门晒进来的阳光，在耶稣身上形成了一个像十字架的影子。每当我走进办公室，这幅图画总能引起我的注意力。

歌罗西书一章描绘了一幅关于耶稣的伟大的图画，祂确实是有神丰满的形像。耶稣有权柄治理万有，因为万有都是藉着祂造的。然而最重要的，就是耶稣就在我们身旁，祂像我们所呼吸的空气那样与我们接近，祂又使圣灵活在我们里面。神呼召我们每一个人成为属祂的人。所有这些，而且不限于此，都是我们敬拜祂、感谢祂，和慇勤与人分享的理由。

在歌罗西书四章，保罗吩咐我们不单个人要为这个好消息感恩，他更吩咐我们要让它成为我们为别人祷告的动力。我们的祷告不是徒然的，我们祷告，好叫我们更深认识神和让我们的信心得以成长。我们当像以巴弗那样祷告，好叫别人能在神丰盛的真理上站立得稳。

保罗知道，在真理的根基上站立得稳，值得我们付上一切。今天，你站在什么根基上呢？

In my office is a picture of Jesus that depicts him as a child in Joseph's carpenter shop. Joseph stands at his workbench while Jesus plays with a nail on the floor. As light shines in the window, the shadow cast over Jesus is in the shape of a cross. This painting continues to catch my attention whenever I walk into my office.

Colossians 1 paints a huge picture of Jesus. He is indeed the fullness of God. Jesus has the authority to rule because all creation has been made through him. Most importantly, though, Jesus is as close as the air we breathe, and he has made it possible for the Holy Spirit to live in us. God calls each of us his own. All this and more gives us reason to worship. And to give thanks. And to share.

Paul asks us in Colossians 4 not only to appreciate this news but also to use it as a springboard to pray for others. We do not pray in vain. We pray so that we may know God better, so that our faith may grow. We pray like Epaphras so that others may stand firm in the truth of the fullness of God.

Paul knows that standing on this foundation of truth is worth everything. What are you standing on today?
